Obit: Mrs. Mary A. Hepler, one of the oldest and most prominently known residents in Bourbon County died last evening about 5 o'clock, at the home of her stepdaughter, Mrs. M. Cheney of No. 8 North Eddy St., Fort Scott, Ks. Death was due to heart disease and old age. Though the decease has been in poor health for some time, her condition has never been regarded as serious and her death was rather sudden. Mrs. Mary A. Hepler was the wife of one of Fort Scott's oldest physicians - Dr. Hepler, who died several years ago. She was born in 1831 and has resided in the city continuously since 1865. The deceased was a very devout Christian and was recognized as a strong church worker. She was also identified with several fraternal organizations. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was grand matron of Kansas for one term, which was a great honor. Mrs. Hepler was one of the most widely known women in this community and her death is lamented. She was an aunt of Dr. A. H. Hepler. The funeral services will be held at 9:30 tomorrow morning at the home of Mrs. Cheney. Rector Edgar A. Sherrod of the Episcopal church will officiate. Interment will be made at Evergreen Cemetery.
