SNARLED CABLE KILLS 1, HURTS 1, RIDING TRACTOR:
JACKSBORO, April 8 (Spl).-One man was killed and another injured about 10:30 a.m. Saturday when they were crushed by a tow cable that snared in the track of a caterpillar tractor andwrapped around the machine.
Dead is M.C. Franklin, about 75, who resided west of Boonsville.
He was riding on a caterpillar operated by Oran Welch of Wichita falls, who had been clearing the right of way for a fence on a farm 23 miles southeast of Jacksboro. Welch was driving the machine back to his truck.
Welch suffered a broken pelvis and numerous bruises. He was in fair condition Saturday night in Jack County Hospital.
Cecil Elenburg of Jacksboro discovered the accident at 12:45 p.m. when he went to the farm on an inspection tour. Elenburg owns the Cecil Elenburg Construction Company, for which Welch was working.
