SALEM - Lee Roy Hammond was born April 18, 1948 in Portland, Ore. to Bill and Joan Hammond. He moved to Salem in 1953 and graduated from South Salem H.S. and Chemeketa CC.
In January 1974 he joined the Salem Fire Department and retired in June 1998 as a captain.
Survivors include his beloved daughter, Rachel; his wife, Stephanie; sister, Linda Kissling; brothers, Steve and wife Gweyn and Joel and wife Melinda Hammond; and his nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to your local food bank or the Humane Society. A celebration of Lee's life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at City View Funeral Home, 390 Hoyt St. S. Private interment will take place in City View Cemetery, Mountain View Garden Mausoleum.
