The son of my ancestors, THOMAS & MARY (MESSENGER) BENEDICT, he married (1) Rachel Smith on May 13, 1697 in Norwalk and (2) Hannah Knapp of Danbury on October 14, 1740.

He surved and fence-viewer & surveyor, selectman between 1709 and 1711 and again in 1730 & 1732. In 1717, he was called "Ensign". His will was proved on June 5, 1744 and his estate was valued at 160 pounds. The following is an excerpt from his will: " I do will and bequeath to my grandchild Thomas Benedick, one 3d part of my Sticky plaine Lot which he hath in part improved and is in part unbroken. I also, bequeath to ye sd Thomas, my second division of medow called Mamathemas -- the lands to be to him and his heirs forever."
