MARY LOUISE OHLER
Mary Louise (VanTuyl)Ohler, 83, of Basehor, Kansas passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at her home.

Mary was born on May 18, 1926 in Leavenworth, to William R. and Hilda M. VanTuyl.

She married Hugh Ohler Febuary 22, 1945 at Bashor, KS. He preceded her in death in 1998.

She was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church and was the church secretary, the president of the Fairmount United Methodist Womens Society, a member of the Merry Matrons Club, Dreams Come True Club, Leavenworth County Council, Basehor Park Board, Basehor Community Education Council and the Quilt Club. Mary was awarded the 1990 Basehor Citizen of the Year for her volunteer work.

She worked for the U.S. Government and retired after 26 years of service in 1986.

She is survived by six children, Cheryl Blackburn & husband Curly, Tonganoxie, Gary Ohler & wife Reba, Tonganoxie, Mike Ohler & wife Phyllis, Vero Beach, Florida, Patrick Ohler & wife Judy, Piper, Cathy Grigsby, Bonner Springs and Steve Ohler & wife Jean, Bonner Springs.

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, four sisters Dorothy McNamee, Betty Scheller, Edna Eklund, Jean Theno, one brother Richard VanTuyl and three sister in laws Florence VanTuyl, Gerry Wiehe and Kay Ohler

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, Kansas.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 26, 2009 at Fairmount United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Fairmount United Methodist Church.
