Death of Mrs. Suel Harris

Mrs. Suel Harris, a highly esteemed woman of this county, died at her home near Harkey Corners last Sunday morning from a stroke of apoplexy. She was taken ill during the night and a physician was sent for, but could do nothing for her and she died about 9 o'clock, surrounded by her sorrowing family.

The deceased was a native of England, aged 58 years, and came to this county in 1861. She leaves besides her husband, four sons, John Farrin (a son by her former husband), Edward, Will and Suel Harris, and four daughters, Mrs. Susie Parsons, Mrs. Lizzie Masten, Ella and Elsie Harris, besides a wide circle of friends to mourn for her. She was a kind hearted christian woman, a devoted wife and loving mother, and the sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family in their sad loss.

The funeral took place Tuesday, services being held at the residence and were conducted by Rev. Chase of Marysville. The large number of people who attended showed the respect in which the deceased was held in the community. Many beautiful flowers were placed on the casket and a long cortege followed the remains to their last resting place in the Yuba City cemetery. The pallbearers were G.W. Carpenter, James Murray, J. H. Kimball, Conrad Schuler, L.P. Farmer and R.W. McLaughlin.

Note: NO DEATH RECORD FOUND AT COUNTY OF SUTTER

Also Susan had a daughter Annie V. Farrin, born 1866 in California (see 1860 census) but I can find no further trace of this daughter, nor do I find a gravesite.
