Joseph Doane was born in Eastham in 1669. His father was Daniel Doane, and grandfather was Dea. John Doane, one of the seven first settlers of Eastham. For his first wife, Joseph Doane married Mary Godfrey, January 8, 1690 ; she dying Jan. 22, 1725, he again married Mrs. Desire Berry, Feb. 29, 1726-7. By these two wives he had twelve children. Daniel arid Elisha his sons settled in Harwich ; Joshua, the youngest son, settled in Connecticut. Esqr. Doane held many offices within the gift of his townsmen.
