Heinz served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-26C (#42-107711), 441st Bomber Squadron, 320th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Orleans County, Louisiana prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 10, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Heinz was "Killed In Action" when his B-26 crashed into the side of Monte Azza in Italy shortly after takeoff during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on March 18, 1949.
