Robert Joseph Burrow, known as Joe Burrow, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Mr. Burrow was born in Stokes County on May 12, 1926, to Chester and Lottie Smith Burrow. He lived in Midway for 62 years and was in the U.S. Army for seven months. He worked at Western Electric for over 23 years and at Coble Dairy for four years in the machine department. He was a tree cutter and sold firewood for 39 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-great-grandchild; and four brothers, Carlton, Argie, Wesley and Roger Burrow. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Tessie Pitts Burrow; six children: Iwona Dickerson of Beauford; Randy Burrow of the home; Monie Burrow and his wife, Pamela, of Winston-Salem; Charles Burrow and his wife, Becky, of Lexington; Patricia Burrow of Burlington; and Shelia Holton and her husband, Loyd, of Lexington; a sister, Roxie Tesh of Enterprise Road, Lexington; a brother, Raeford Burrow, and his wife, Norma Jean, of Walnut Cove; and a sister-in-law, Doris Burrow of Yadkin College Road. There are 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, with Paul Carder officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
