Jack K. Brown, 75 of Pittsboro died Saturday (6/28/1997) at his home. A native of Chatham County, he was retired from UNC School of Public Health and was a World War II veteran. he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Brown (his only child). Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuedsay at Griffin Funeral. Service by the Rev. Gary Moore and the Rev. Emerson Woodall. Interment will follow at New Elam Christian Church cemetery. Surviving is his wife, Janie Hearn Brown. the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Griffin Funeral Service. memorial may be made to Hospice of Chatham County, P.O. Box 1077, Pittsboro, N.C. 27312, or to cancer research.

Jack was the second of four boys born to William and Alma Brown, and thier last surviving son. The other three passed away before him; Russel Aubry in 1924 as an infant, Roy Lee when he was 16 in 1947 and James Willim Brown in 1975. Jack would have been 57 that August.
