Emma Miller, 87, of Sterling, passed away at home on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. -28, at Tennant Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, at the First English Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Dimit officiating.
Emma was born on March 18, 1914, to Conrad and Charlotte (Schad) Helmut in Sterling, Co. She grew up in the Merino and Atwood area and attended the Roosevelt School.
She married Harry Miller on May 27, 1934, in Sterling. They farmed and lived in the Atwood area until 1956. With the passing of her husband Harry, Emma and her children moved to Sterling, where she was a cook at Sterling Junior High School for 14 years. She then worked at Rose Arbor Nursing Home as a cook for 10 years and later helped manage the Logan County Heritage Center for seven years before her retirement.
Emma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out to eat and spending time playing cards, dancing and enjoying Meet and Eat with friends. She was a member of the Germans from Russia and First English Lutheran Church.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her parents, Conrad and Charlotte (Schad) Helmut; two sons, Her man and Robert Miller; two brothers, George and John Helmut; and five sisters, Lydia Drake, Rosie Rakestraw, Jeannie Meers, Mary Brunkhardt and Molly Wamboldt.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Charlene Craddock and husband Earl of Sterling; two sons, James Miller of Sterling and Richard Miller and wife Jane of Fort Collins; one sister, Pauline Werner of Messex; three brothers, Victor Helmut and wife Carolyn of Atwood; Harry Helmut and wife Dorothy of Merino, and Con Helmut of Lakewood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jim Miller of Fort Collins, Brent Miller and wife Shelly of Henderson, Debi Good of Fort Collins, Sean Hoffman and wife Karen of Sacramento, Calif., Jennifer Kerr and husband Tyson of Sterling, Jayme Harris and husband Steve of Nesbitt, Miss., Tawnya Baer of St. Louis, Mo., Tracy Maslowski of Burlington, N.J., Shelly Froggatte and husband Grant of Greeley, Jason Miller of Greeley, and Cristi Jungmann and husband Ronald of Rogers, Texas; and 13 great grandchildren, Danielle and Derek Good of Fort Colliris, Preston and Haley Kerr of Sterling, Chase and Derek Hoffman of Boston, Mass., Ashley, Nikki and Bryan Harris of Nesbitt, Miss., Megan, Katie and Penny Maslowski of Burlington, N.J., and Grace Jungmann of Rogers, Texas.
