Residing in Newcastle, Maine at the time of enlistment. Enlisted on August 25, 1862 as a Private in the 7th Maine Infantry, Company F, at the age of 18. Wounded in abdomen on May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia. Hospitalized on May 25, 1864 at Lincoln Hospital, Washington DC, where he died of his wounds.
