Mahala Hodgin, daughter of Daniel and Catharine Beals, was born in Ohio, the 5th
mo., 18th day of 1821, and departed this life the 11 mo., 10th day of 1910, age
89y 4 mo and 22 days.

She came to Winchester, Indiana at the age of 5 years with her parents and lived
here until 1838 when she married Andrew Jackson the 9 mo., 19th day of 1838.
They were the parents of six children. In 1850, her husband died and left her
with five children, one having preceeded him in death. In 1860 8th mo., 27th
day, she married Nathan Hodgin and were the parents of one child, Rosa, now Rosa
Collins. He died the 1st mo., 3rd day of 1902. She made her home with Rosa. She
left five children, Joseph C.; Isom; Lydia Wright; Lindley M. Jackson and Rosa
(Hodgin) Collins. One sister, Phebe Baldwin (nee Beals), who is the only one
left of a family of ten children.

Funeral services were held at New Garden Friends Church in Wayne Co., Indiana,
with burial at the Fountain City Cementery.
