Cornelia Belle Anderson, of Downing, was born in Schuyler County near Downing on March 18, 1891. She was the daughter of Charles Francis and Julia Mae McConnell Croson. Mrs. Anderson, 95, died Sunday morning, August 10, 1986 in Schuyler County Nursing Home at Queen City.

On April 21, 1911, at Downing, she was married to Hugh Edward Anderson who preceded her in death on May 25, 1956. Also preceding her in death were one son Francis Carl Anderson; one daughter, Bessie Jewell Carroll; and six brothers, Roy Croson, Calvin Croson, Coleman Croson, Noble Croson, Dewey Croson and Don Croson.

Surviving are four sons, Donald Hugh Anderson and Alva Paul Anderson, both of Downing, Eugene Anderson of Kimberling City and Max R. Anderson of Taos; one daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Thelma Fay) Nicholson of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and a great great grandchild; one sister, Jessie Mae Croson of St. Louis and one brother, Russell Croson of Columbia.

Mrs. Anderson was a life-long resident of the Downing Community.

She was a member of the Christian Church.

Funeral services were held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, August 12, 1986 in the Norman Funeral Chapel in Downing. The Rev. Kenneth Campbell, pastor of the Memphis Christian Church, conducted the services. Music was provided by Kenneth Campbell, singing, "This World Is Not My Home" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye." He was accompanied by Betty Anderson, organist. Burial was in the Downing Cemetery.

Bearers were: Alan Garrett, Bobby Garrett, Leslie Woods, Billy Anderson, Todd Anderson and Steve Anderson.
