Born Alice Isabella Maybee, and known as "Isabelle", she grew up on her family's 160-acre farm in section 28 of Independence Township, Michigan. The road their farm was on is named for their family (Maybee Road).
She married James R. Jones on January 18, 1883.
Together, they operated the J.R. Jones General Store in the village of Waterford, Michigan until they sold it in 1888. Their store today stands in Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan.
After they sold their Waterford store, they opened the Jones and Maybee General Store at 109 South Saginaw Street in Holly, Michigan.
Isabelle and James lived in Holly until their deaths, nine years apart.
They had no children.
