The son of Norman James Rankin and Mary Elena “Lena” McDowell, Louis married Evelyn Jane Wilson on 28 Oct 1933. They were the parents of 5 children.

He worked as a machinist for Wagner Electric in St. Louis, Missouri until his retirement in 1974.

Louis died at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 14 days.

He was survived by his wife, Evelyn; 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters, Elsie Scheffing, Edna Layton, Iva Bock, Viola Deters, Gladys Buxton, Marvel Radeackar and Lillian Bohle; and many extended family members.

In addition to his mother and father, Louis was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Irene Cissel and Opal Sanzotera; and 1 brother, Clarence Rankin.

Visitation was held on 15 Mar 1995 at Ortmann's Funeral Home in Overland, Missouri. Funeral services began there at 9:30 a.m. the following morning and a funeral Mass was conducted at 10 a.m. at St. Blaise Catholic Church.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the American Cancer Society.

Louis' wife, Evelyn, passed away in 2007 and was buried next to him.

Children: 2 daughters, 3 sons.
