Sarah was a longtime resident of the Leonard & Bixby communities. While she will be remembered as a homemaker, no one will ever forget her hard work and devotion to her husband and their farming. She was affiliated with the Leonard First Baptist Church and the Hillabee Indian Baptist Church. She was especially devoted to her family and also enjoyed bowling, shooting pool and will always be remembered for driving a bit too fast.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Bill McClain whom she married on April 3, 1954 at their home in Leonard. She is also survived by 2 daughters; Teresa Beene & Annie Gruenwald, both of Leonard, 3 sisters; Bobbie Thames of Okmulgee, Liz Jacobs of Checotah & Emma Stanley of Parker, Arizona, 1 brother; Newman Childers of Tulsa, 5 grandchildren; Billie Whitehead, Josh Gruenwald, Karrie Seawright, Sarah Osborn & Emily Osborn, 4 great-grandchildren; Logan McClain, Kyle Whitehead, Marissa Seawright & Hailey Seawright and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son; Larry McClain, 1 granddaughter; Gina Gruenwald, 3 brothers; Claude, Dan & Andrew "Buddy" Childers and 2 sisters: Melvina Brough & Rachel Kinsey.
Casket bearers were Don Brough, Dale Brough, Burt Thames, Ryan McClain, Glen Dale McClain & Henry McClain. Honorary bearers were Norman Childers, Jack Kinsey, Kenneth Kinsey & Mitchell Childers.
