Bert Jackson, 47 Years old, died of injuries received when the car he was driving ran into a tree 2 1/2 miles west of Westfield on state road 32 about 7:30 pm Monday.
The cause of the Jackson crash was not known. Apparently he lost control of his car, hitting a tree about six feet off the road. He was returning to his home in Jolietville from work at Firestone. A Westfield physician treated Jackson at the scene of the accident and he was brought to Noblesville where he died about two hours later in the hospital.
He had a compound fracture of the lower jaw and a brain concusion. Deputy Sheriff Worth Caylor investigated the accident.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, two sons, Kenneth of Texas and Robert of Noblesville; two daughters, Jane and Joan who live with their parents.
Other members of the immediate family living in Jolletsville are his father, Jehu Jackson, a brother, Ralph and two sisters Mrs. Guy Howard and Mrs. Howard Ramsey.
Bert had been employed at Firestone for the past seven years. He was a member of the Whitestown F. and A.M.
