The newspaper article was furnished to me by another findagrave contributor. It is from the Springfield Newsleader, Tues. July , 1993. Basically all the stones have been covered by soil that was used for dumping.

Note : Samuel Porter Fielder, b-18-Sept-1830, married to Mary Susan Barnes, b-28-Sept-1846, Greene Co, MO., was the brother of Jason Thompson Fielder,1824 and Benjamin Franklin Fielder., 1825. After Samuel Porter Fielder,1830 died, his wife Mary Susan Barnes married his older brother Benjamin Franklin Fielder,1825, on 6-Feb-1876, my gg-grandfather. Benjamin was a widower and Mary Susan (Barnes) Fielder was Benjamin's widowed sister-in-law, so they later married and had four more children.

The first wife for John Lewis Fielder, 1776 was Mary Jane McCutchen who died. They married on 19-July-1800, Davidson Co, TN. Mary's parents were, William McCutchen and wife Elizabeth Burrows.

John Lewis "Jack" Fielder was the son of John Fielder, b-1732, maybe in Hanover, VA., d-1-Dec-1806-Davidson Co, TN., and wife Elizabeth Lewis, b-29-July-1740-Surry Co, NC., d-23-April-1818-Davidson Co, TN. Elizabeth was buried in Hickman Co, TN., in the Graham Cemetery. Elizabeth was
first married and divorced to John "Trader" Benge. The parents for John Fielder,1732 were John Fielder and wife Mary Stewart.

John Lewis Fielder,1776 had a brother named Nimrod Fielder, b-1771-Surry Co, NC., d-23-Dec-1853-Huntsville, Madison Co, Alabama. Married in 1793-Surry Co, NC., to Elizabeth Riggs. John Lewis "Jack" Fielder,1776 may have had a sister named Mary Fielder, b abt 1764.

The parents for Elizabeth (Lewis) Benge-Fielder,1740 were William Terrell Lewis Sr., b-1718- Hanover Co, VA., d-1802-Davidson Co, TN., and wife Sarah Sallie Martin, b-1721-Albemarle Co, VA., or Hanover, Co, VA.. d-1790s in Surry Co, NC., or Wilkes Co, NC. Sarah's parents were William
Terrell and wife Susan Waters.

The parents for William Terrell Lewis Sr., 1718 were David Lewis, b-1685-Hanover Co, VA., d-Aug-1779-Albemarle Co, VA. and first wife Ann Terrell, b-VA., d-1734-Hanover Co, VA. The second wife for David Lewis,1685 was maybe Sarah Unknown and in 1753-Albermarle Co, VA., David married his third wife, Mary (McGrath) Hart, widow of Dr. Hart of
Phildelphia. David and Mary had three children. After the death of Mary, David Lewis,1685 was engaged to be married a fourth time, but died suddenly before the consummation of the marriage after cutting down a large tree in the hot sun.

David Lewis,1685 was the son of Col. and Councillor John Lewis, b-30-Nov-1669-Gloucester, Co, VA, d-14-Nov-1725 in Warner Hall, Gloucester Co, VA., and wife Elizabeth Warner, b-24-Nov-1672-Cheske, Gloucester Co, VA, d-1718/19 in Warner Hall, Gloucester Co, VA., buried in the Warner Hall Plantation Cemetery. Elizabeth's parents were Augustine Warner II and wife Mildred Reade.

Col and Councillor John Lewis,1669 was the son of Major John Lewis, b-1635/40-Monmouthshire Wales or Brecon Wales, d-2-Dec-1689-Chemokins, New Kent Co, now King and Queen Co, VA., and wife Isabella Miller, b-24-Aug-1640-Gloucester Co, VA., d-9-Feb-1703/04- Chemokins, New Kent
Co,VA., now King and Queen Co, VA. They may have had 15 children. Isabella's parents were James Miller, b-1617-, d-1656-York VA., and wife Mary Angle, b-15-May-1614-Jane Harland, KY., d-11-Aug-1662-VA. Major John Lewis,1635/40 was the son of John Lewis, b-1594 and wife Johane Lewis, daughter of William Lewis and Elizabeth Proger.

Fielder, age 29, enlisted with the 8th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, USA on June 24, 1862 in Springfield, Missouri as a Pvt. in Company "F". August 12/13/22, 1862 Promoted to 1st Lt. November 1862 Absent, On Special Duty. April 22, 1863 Absent, On Scout Duty with General Vandever. May 1863 On Duty as Officer of the Picket Guard. September/October 1863 Present, Sick. December 1863 Present, Sick. February 20, 1864 Letter from 1st Lt. Samuel P. Fielder requesting resignation due to disability. Surgeon's Letter accompanies this as proof for Certificate of Disability for Discharge. March 04, 1864 Special Order # 35 {In File.} granting Resignation due to ill health, given Honorable Discharge by Headquarters, Department of Arkansas, by Major-General Steele. - Ralph Biggs
