Funeral Yesterday At Hillsboro For Albert S. Roberts

Albert Schuyler Roberts, well-known and highly respected Hillsboro resident, passed away at Hillsboro hospital, Monday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. following an extended period of failing health. He had been a patient in the hospital only a short time before his death, however.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Bass funeral home, the Rev. W. H. Johnson, pastor of the Hillsboro Methodist church being the officiating minister. Burial was made in the Bluff cemetery.

Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Roberts of Irving, where he was born March 8, 1869. He died at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 10 days. He spent his entire life in Montgomery county, 57 years of that time a resident of Hillsboro.

In 1887 he and Alma E. Rose were united in marriage. She preceded him in death June 27, 1930. They were the parents of the following surviving children: Lester C. Roberts, Mattoon; Eunice, wife of Willis Allen of LaMesa, Calif.;, Dr. John R. Roberts, St. Louis; Marie Roberts, Belleville, and Mrs. Martha Hefley and Mary M. Roberts, both of Hillsboro. There are also 5 surviving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were 3 sons, Roweland, Carl and Leo and one daughter, Clara Roberts.

Mr. Roberts was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist church and attended services when he was physically able. He was also a member of the men's class of the Sunday school and was a regular attendant when able.

He was also a member of the Progressive Miners organization.
