Jacobus is the Latin form of the English name James while Jaap or Jacobat is Jacob in Dutch. At age 12 James, written in the University record as Jacobus (all matriculation records that university, including the student's first name, are in Latin), was enrolled as a student of letters at the University of Leiden. Unfortunately, he was buried at the age of 17 at the Pieterskerk (St. Peter's Church) at Leiden.
