Son of Thomas Rowles & Christiana Branson, and my 3-great-grandfather. Moved with his parents to Steuben County, New York (where he married Rebecca Clark and was a veteran of the War of 1812), moved on to Cincinnati in 1822, then to Covington, Indiana, in 1823, then to a farm near Albia in 1844. Instrumental in founding the county seats of both Fountain County, Indiana, and Monroe County, Iowa.
