Ruby May Banister, 81, North Vernon, died 12:20 a.m. today, Dec. 29, 1986, in the Jennings Community Hospital in North Vernon. Banister was born Dec. 29, 1904 in Bartholomew County, the daughter of Charles and Lillie Hall Taylor. She was married Aug. 17, 1922 to Ivan Otis Banister, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She retired from Regal Rugs in North Vernon in 1967. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of North Vernon. She is survived by five daughters, Helen Barker, St. Paul, Wilma McDaniel, Waldron, Evelyn Simpson and Edna Davidson, both of Seymour, and Eva Ferguson, North Vernon; two sons, Ray Banister, Overland Park, Kan. and Rex Banister, Shelbyville; two brothers, Orville Taylor, Shelbyville, and Leonard Taylor, Fairland; one sister, Mary Van Arsdol, Columbus; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one child, Elmer Banister. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dove and Sharp Funeral Home in North Vernon. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in North Vernon.
