Officer Massey Liklen Moseley, Jr., M.P.D. (retired) who was born September 21, 1926 in Jackson, AL. to Massey and Fannie Mae Moseley, passed away Monday at his home. He was 83. Mr. Moseley, who was a resident of Mobile for over 60 years, grew up in St. Stephens, AL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the National Guard. He retired from the Mobile Police Department in 1972 after 20 years of service where he received the "Meritorious Service Award" and helped to establish the Mobile County Law Enforcement Association. He later owned and operated Massey L. Moseley Jr. and Son's Paint and Body Shop in Theodore, during which time he was elected President of the Mobile County Wrecker Owners Association for three terms. Massey also was a crew member of the sea going tug M/V "Gale-B" towing the Grain barge "Martha-B" from the Alabama State Docks to Puerto Rico and occasionally the Dominican Republic and return to ASD. He shared many a tale with his shipmates, and will be missed by all of them.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo Gilmore Moseley, his oldest son, Charles Michael Moseley Sr. and two sisters, Annie Mae Howard and Dorothy Jean Baker. He leaves behind two daughters, Rosemary (Billie) Dunnam of Mobile and Tonya (Rick) Jones of Theodore; one son, Massey L. Moseley III of Mobile; three brothers, Joseph N. Moseley of Mobile, Hiram M. Moseley of St. Stephens and John F. Moseley of Salitpa; six sisters, Robbie Granade and Julie Richardson both of Saraland, Ruth Napper of Bigbee, Ruby Dees of Eight Mile, and Flora Johnson and Mildred Sheffield both of St. Stephens; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16, 2009 at 12 Noon from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home following a visitation from 10am until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd. Theodore, AL 36582.
