Duane P. Burrill, 37, Rock Island, died Thursday, June 20, 1996, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Burial is in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.

Visitation is one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to a fund for his children's education.

Mr. Burrill was born Nov. 28, 1958, in Smyrna, Tenn., the son of Charles L. and Irma Carpenter Burrill.

He was a machinist with Gray Machine Company, Rock Island.

He was an Army and Navy veteran. He served with an armored division in Mannheim Germany and received commendations as a Top Gun instructor at Fort McCoy, Wis.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a wood-crafter and had made water skis, rifle butts, gun cabinets and had built two boats. He was very concerned with ecology and environmental issues and was a member of National Rifle Association. He was also a member of Rock Island County Conservation Club, where he often taught hunting and safety courses.

Survivors include a daughter, Dianna K. Burrill, a son, DeJay L. Burrill, his parents, all of Rock Island; brothers, Donald R. Burrill, East Moline, and David C. Burrill, Los Angeles, Calif.; and special friends, Scott Rahn, Tammy Reyes and children, Jacklyn Reyes, Ray DeBrackeleire and Mitchell DeBrackeleire, all or Rock Island.
