MIFFLINTOWN - Richard A. Goss, 99, of Mifflintown, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Brookline Manor, in Mifflintown.Born Aug. 22, 1913, in McClure, he was the son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Zook) Goss.He was preceded in death by: his wife, Violet E. (Howell) Goss, on Sept. 6, 2006; a son, Gary A. Goss, in 1947; an infant son, Dennis L. Goss, in 1948; his brothers, Lawrence, Percy and Kenneth Goss; and his sisters, Ruth Goss and Mildred Roush.He is survived by: his son, Darwin R. Goss and wife, Nancy, of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Colleen Ziemba, Jeffrey Goss and Charlene Perkins; and six great- grandchildren.He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Weaver, of Middleburg, Dorothy Goss and husband, Fred, of Lewistown, and Beryle Wiser, of Belltown.Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed at Standard Steel in Burnham and later retired as a dairy farmer.He was a member of First Church of the Brethren.A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, in Maitland Church of the Brethren Cemetery, with the Rev. Douglas Sherlock officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.Memorial contributions in Richard's memory may be made to First Church of the Brethren, 134 Shaw Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.Funeral arrangements are under the care of Heller- Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Avenue, Burnham.
