MARTHA LONG
Martha Long died Tuesday, April 27th, 1915 at 8 o'clock. She was at her home in Columbia when the end came. A general weakness and failing of strength following a fall on the icy walk last winter was the cause of her death. She was 65 years old.
Mrs. Long confessed her faith in Christ in early life and united with the Christian church at Belinda. Her departure from this world removes from our midst a true Christian character.
Martha Ellen Sullivan was born July 8, 1849 in Mahaska county, Iowa. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to George Long, August 20, 1870. To this union were born six children. All are living except one boy who died at the age of eight years.
She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, five children, seven grandchildren and a host of friends. The children who survive her are: Edward, of Knoxville, Mrs. Bingaman, of Columbia, Mrs. Henry, of Hamilton, Elmer, of Portland, Oregon, Tice, of Montana.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:00 o'clock, April 28th at the Oakdale church, conducted by Rev. E. A. McKim, of the Belinda Church of Christ. Interment was made in the Oakdale cemetery.
