Longtime Eagle Creek resident James Dewitt Crawford passed away at Milwaukie Care Center on Sept. 29, 2009, at the age of 84
A memorial service for James will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. at Estacada Seventh-day Adventist Church.
"JD" was born to James D. Crawford and Eunie Mae Puffer in Wellston, Okla. He was the third of six children. He lived in Oklahoma until the 8th grade, when the family moved to California.
He was a hydraulic and diesel mechanic most of his life and retired from Keith's Manufacturing in Madras, Ore., in 1996.
While in California, he met and married DOROTHY KITT in 1960 and helped raise her nephew Jimmy Kitt until 1963. In 1964, he married IRIS STOTZ and helped raise her three kids, Fred Scott, Diane Kitt Dinwiddie and Bobby Kitt, along with Jimmy Kitt, until 1976. He moved to Portland in 1976 and later married LYNNE ROBINS CHRISTENSEN in 1980. They lived in Culver, Ore., where he helped raise Lynne's three daughters, Cindy Christensen Schmidt, Sandy Christensen Worman and Glenda Christensen Sandidge.
In 2000, JD and Lynne moved to Eagle Creek to be closer to family. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by 18 step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other family members. He was a longtime member of the Estacada Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Seventh-day Adventist Church Christian Education Fund.
