SERVICES FOR MRS. STEVE SMITH
Mrs. Steve Smith, 78, of Montgomery City, died unexpecdely at her home Wednesday, September 17.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 19 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City with the Rev. Ernest Slovensky officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near High Hill.
She was born Florence Lelia Brockman on August 13, 1897 in St. Louis County, the daughter of the late James Henry and Lydia Dell Brockman. She was married on September 16, 1916 to Steve Smith, who survives at the home.
The couple lived most of their lives in High Hill, moving to Montomery City 12 years ago.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Janet) Zumwalt of Montgomery City; Mrs. Merill (Vernabelle) Knipmeyer of Quincy, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Edna) Talbert of Columbia; Mrs. Charles (Clara) Creech of St. Louis; a brother, Henry Brockman of Florida; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Montgomery City Methodist-Presbyterian Church and she was active in the WSCF church group.
