Stanley Dwayne (Stan) Marquette, 61, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away Saturday evening, March 21, 2009 at his home in Ottumwa, Iowa after an illness. The oldest son of Kenneth and Mary Schuck Marquette, he was born July 30, 1947, at Grim Smith Hospital in Kirksville Missouri. Stan graduated from Memphis High School. Then he attended University of Missouri at Columbia for one year. Advancing his education, he graduated from Baileys School of Electronics that he attended in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War. After his army service Stanley went into the electronics business. He started Marquette Auto Sound and in 2009 he celebrated 35 years of operating the business. Stanley's special hobby was a 40-acre tree farm, which he planted and cared for. It grew beautifully and meant a lot to him. Stan is survived by his mother Mary Marquette of Memphis MO; one brother, Kenneth Neil Marquette of Ottumwa, IA; his aunt Erma and Charles Kelly; friend Gail Brown, and a host of other friends. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Marquette in February of 2007. Memorials are suggested to the donors choice and can be left at or mailed to Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, Missouri 63555. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO with Rev. Charles Hammack officiating. Interment followed in the Brock Cemetery north of Memphis in rural Scotland County, MO. Pallbearers were Steve Morris, Danny Norton, Curvin Martin, Edward and Richard Good. Arrangements are under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO.
