Anna Elizabeth Kingen born December 25, 1857, near Leon, Decatur County, Iowa, departed this life October 13, 1908, age 50 years, 9 months and 18 days. She was united in marriage to George Jones of Hayesville, February 25, 1872, and to this union was born seven children, three of whom died in infancy, and the remaining four, James, Wilson, Frances and Ray, together with the stricken husband were at the bedside when the summons came. Also, her brother, George and twin sister, Mary Stonebraker, were at the bedside. Her sister, Ellen Burke, arrived from Macomb, Illinois, a few hours after her death. Her brother, Wilson and sister, Fanny, of Van Couver, Washington. She was converted in early life and became a member of the Christian church at Bethel. Twenty-two years ago, she became a saint of the "evening light" and ever lived a life of faith in Christ. She was exceedingly zealous in her Christian life and seemed to live only for the good that she could do. She had been in poor health for almost a year, but her last illness dated from Sunday morning last. Although her suffering was at times intense, she bore it with the fortitude of a Christian. She was laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery, October 14, services conducted by A. C. Harmon.
