Verena Sprunger, 93, a resident of Berne, died at 9:25 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne. She was born on October 15, 1916, in Adams County, to Theodore and Rosina (Nussbaum) Sprunger. She was married on April 9, 1939 to Gordon Thomas Sprunger. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was retired from Dunbar Furniture and Berne Furniture Company where she worked in the office.
She is survived by two sons, David (Lori) Sprunger of Roanoke; and Barton (Judy) Sprunger of Indianapolis; one daughter, Mary (Peter) Sprunger-Froese of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2007, and three brothers, Sherwood, Willard and Marion Sprunger.
Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14 in the chapel at Swiss Village. Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Swiss Village with Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating.
