AMARILLO - Helen May Alderson, 81, of Amarillo, passed away Nov. 5, 2009. Services were held at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Plainview. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Helen May Conger was born in Burlington, Colo., on Feb. 12, 1928. She met James Harold Alderson in Plainview and they married in Portales, N.M., on April 27, 1945. They lived in Plainview until 1979 and then moved to Pampa where she lived until her husband's death in 1997. She then moved to Amarillo where she resided until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; her parents, Maude and Alfred Conger Sr.; one sister; and five brothers.

Helen May is survived by her four daughters, Barbara Thomas of Pampa, Jaynee Lancaster and Linda Morgan of Austin and Sandra Murphy of Amarillo; one son, Gary Alderson of San Angelo; one sister, LaWanda Stambaugh of Plainview; one brother, Alfred Conger Jr. of Alamogordo, N.M.; her lifelong friend, Lee Shugart of Plainview; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Olivia's Angels, BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
