Leon W. Brooks Jr. Born in Dallas, TX, on October 8, 1920 and peacefully passed away at home Wednesday, October 28, 2009.

He attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. After graduating high school, he attended Texas A&M and the University of Texas where he majored in journalism. He served his country in the United States Army, as a glider pilot during WWII, in Sicily, Normandy, Southern France, Holland and North Africa. He became a self-employed oil & gas producer in 1946 working in Ohio and Texas. He relocated to Denver in 1975, where he was very active in the Episcopal Church and the Shriners.

L.W. is lovingly survived by his wife, Carolyn K.; his children, Carol Brooks Reagan and Joseph D. Brooks; stepchildren, John R. Cook, Victoria J. Fortune and Bradley D. Fortune and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Monday, November 2, 2009 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood. A funeral service will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, at St. Gregory Episcopal, 6653 W. Chatfield Ave, Littleton. Burial will follow at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 12 noon, Pavilion "A". In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Denver Rescue Mission. Published in Denver Post on November 1, 2009
