Father of Frederick Law Olmsted. (502) John was the son of Capt. Benjamin Olmsted (1751-1832) and Content Pitkin (1752-1839). He was born at E. Hartford, CT., Sep. 27, 1791; d. Jan. 25, 1873; m. (1) Jun. 5, 1821, Charlotte Law Hull; b. Sep. 9, 1800; d. Feb. 28, 1826; dau. of Samuel and Abigail (Dolittle) Hull, of Chesire, CT.; she was the adopted daughter of John Law, of Hartford, CT.;

(191) (Capt.) BENJAMIN OLMSTED. b. at E. Hartford, Conn., Mar. 12, 1751 ; d. Dec. 25, 1832; m. Nov. 2, 1775, Content Pitkin; b. Aug. 10, 1752; d. July 12, 1839; dau. of Ozias and Theodosia (Bull) Pitkin. He served in the Revolutionary War. Enlisted May, 1775, under Capt. George Pitkin, of CoJ. Spencer's reg't. The company marched to Roxbury, Mass., and was at the seige of Boston, until Dec 1775. He came home on furlough to be married.
