Senator Marcus Hanna died this evening at 6:40. When the end came, he was surrounded by his family and the attending physicians.
In the death of Senator Hanna, the country loses one of its leading statesmen and a great political leader.
He was born Sept. 24, 1837, at Lisbon, O., and located in Cleveland in 1852.
He was elected United States senator in 1897. He has served as chairman of the national republican committee since 1896. He conducted both campaigns which were largely responsible for the election and re-election of President William McKinley. He leaves an estate valued at nearly $30,000,000.
