George Franklin Haney, 77, of Escalon died Saturday at Doctors Medical Center, Modesto.
Mr. Haney was a native of Coal County, Okla. He lived in Escalon 25 years and previously lived in Modesto 25 years. He owned the Paradise Hunting Club in Modesto and was a professional dog trainer for 50 years. He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Escalon and Valley Home, Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association and the American Field Trail Association, and was in the Tennessee bird dog trainer’s hall of fame. He was a union shop steward for the AFI-CIO.
He is survived by his wife, Argia L. Haney of Escalon; children, Pat Pather, Linda Thomas and Arlene Runyan, all of Modesto; L.B. Haney of Empire, Frankie Robirds of Ceres and Robert Haney of Escalon; brother, Robert D. Haney of Manteca; sisters, Bertha Pantealeo of Sacramento and Shirley Ray of Modesto; and 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, Modesto. Remembrances may be made to Bank of the West, 1325 Yosemite Ave., Modesto 95354.~Modesto Bee, Tuesday, September 21, 1999
