Mrs. Rebecca Ann Day McClellan, 58, passed away at home Saturday, November 07, 2009, after a year long battle with cancer. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Officiating will be Brother Buddy Hankins of Southside Baptist Church. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Spring Hill Cemetery, Ringgold, LA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, November 10, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Becky was born November 20, 1950, in Shreveport, LA, to Homer and Sarah Day and lived in Shreveport throughout her life. She was the youngest of four children. In 2001, Becky married Kevin McClellan of Shreveport.

She began her working career with Southwestern Electric Power Co. and was there for three years before joining General Finance Corp. where she became a manager. Becky eventually joined Pennzoil as a Materials Coordinator where she worked from 1982 until they closed the Shreveport plant and joined Omni Packaging where she worked until 2008.

She was a pianist and a member of the praise team at Southside Baptist Church. She loved life and especially enjoyed her family who always referred to her as "Big Becky" (all 110 lbs. of her) to distinguish her from her namesake "Little Becky." She was an avid runner, a shoe aficionado, and a true southern belle. Her husband, Kevin was the love of her life and the two of them created a home where hospitality was king. She was a devoted follower of Christ and a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Although she had no children of her own, Becky often had a niece or nephew in tow when it was time to shop, and there was always an extra meal or bag of home-baked cookies for delivery to the elderly. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Sarah Day. She is survived by her husband, Kevin McClellan; two sisters, Margie Day Grantham and husband, Calvin of Marshall, TX, Jo Beth Day Coyle and husband Dan Coyle of Highland Village, TX; brother Terry Day and wife Mabel Bardwell Day of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Glen Collins, Mark Day, Mike Coyle, Dave Bosserman, Herb Doughty, Joe Corby and Bob Dehner.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of St. Joseph Hospice and very special caregiver Charlotte Washington. The family extends their gratitude to the many friends and coworkers for their care and support during the past year.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the donor choice.
