Mrs. Anna Fischer, 82, of Westphalia died today at 4:10 a.m. of heart and abdominal condition at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Lauer. She had been ill about a week.
She was born March 11, 1871 in Shelbyville, Indiana and was married there in 1889 to John H. Fischer. She moved to Ottawa with family in 1919 and lived about seven miles west of Ottawa in the Richter community until the death of her husband in 1943. Since then she had made her home with her children. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors are three daughters: Mrs. Joe Lauer, Mrs. Ben Strafuss of Manhatten, and Mrs. Joe Renyer of Sabetha/ Two sons: Steven Fischer of Spearville, Arizona and Lewis Fischer, Rt. 4; 30 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Three children preceded her in death.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, Wednesday at 9 a.m. with Matthew Guilfoyle officiating. Rosary services will be conducted from the McVey-Dengle Mortuary, Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. Interment will be in the St. John's cemetery, Homewood. (Obit: The Ottawa Herald, June 15, 1953)
