Arthur C. Bair, 38, died from burns suffered when his [gasoline] truck turned over and exploded on Highway 39.

Mr. Bair, who was attempting to miss an oncoming auto, swerved his truck to the left and smashed into the bridge crossing the South Edisto River near Springfield. He was pulled from the burning wreckage by a Negro who was fishing nearby.

Funeral services will be held Friday at Jericho Methodist Church near Cameron at 4pm. The Rev. Roy O. McClain will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Glen Womack and the Rev. Mr. Smith. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Thompson Funeral home until time for services.

He is survived by one son, A. C. Bair of Elloree; two daughters, Miss Rose Bair and Miss Patricia Bair, both of Elloree; three brothers, Cecil of Camden, Andrew E of North and Franklin C. Bair of St. Matthews; two sisters, Mrs. James Webber of Elloree and Mrs Furman Heckle of Orangeburg; and his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Strock Bair of Orangeburg.

Pallbearers at the funeral will be William Godwin, Edward Aultman, Bernie Heckle, Wilber Webber, Sheldon Black and Mike Shuler.
