William married Miss Emily Elizabeth C. Holloway on the 6th of July 1863; while William was serving in Co. B, Infantry Regiment South Carolina, known as Hampton Legion. He entered in as Private and rose to a Sergeant.
After the war, William and his wife, known as Bettie, moved to southwest Georgia and first settled around Webster County. Later moving closer to Americus in Sumter County; where he farmed. No known children were born to this union.
