RICHMOND, Ind. — Curtis F. "Sarge" Hodges, age 69, of Richmond, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Reid Hospital.
Born Jan. 12, 1940, in Bluefield, W.Va., to B.F. and Vada Hammlet Hodges, he was a resident of Richmond for most of his life.
Curt served in the Marine Corps from 1957-1960 and retired in 2000 from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class. He proudly served for six years on the Wayne County Honor Guard. Curt was a member of the Marine Corps League, American Legion Post 315 and AMVETS. He worked in many places, including Hoffco and Belden.
Survivors include his military family and friends, including Frank Gross and Carl Buchholz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, B.F. Hodges and Vada Hammlet Hodges Dennis, and stepfather, Eugene C. Dennis.
Visitation for Curtis F. "Sarge" Hodges will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery in the Veterans Field of Honor with military honors by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
