Marion Thomas Shipley, 69 died Thursday at Baxter General Hospital. A native of Mountain Home, he was a general laborer and member of the Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Shipley was born July 27, 1909 in Baxter County to the late James Woodford Shipley and the former Almeda Carson. He married the former Virgie Jewel Clark on Jan. 31, 1943 at Norfork.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four brothers, Woodford and Henry Shipley of Mountain Home, Homer Shipley of Wasco, Calif., and Orville Shipley of Eldon, Mo.; two sisters, Lizzie Climer of Wynn, and Ella Boyer of Flippin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services we held at the Galatia Assembly of God Church, officiated by Rev. Scott Garner.
Pallbearers were Henry Wheat, Ira HIcks, Johnnie Moore, O. R. Carpenter, Rudolph Baker, and Oscar Chapman.
Interment took place at Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home.
NOTE: His mother's Arkansas Death Certificate states she died in 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried there but does not name a cemetery.
