Marion Clifton Turbyfill
Marion Clifton Turbyfill, 94, of Hickory, N.C., died Monday, June 7, 2004, at his home.
He was a member of Highland Baptist Church for more than 60 years and served as deacon for many of those years. He worked at Hickory Manufacturing for more than 45 years, and was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Laney and John Pinkney Turbyfill; one son, McCoy Turbyfill; and two brothers, Roy and Preston Turbyfill.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta S. Turbyfill of Hickory, N.C.; one son, Basil Turbyfill of Danville, Ky.; one daughter, Clifteen Withers of Westchester, Ohio; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Catawba Funerals & Cremations with the Rev. Jessie Lott officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361.
