Pauline Gooley, 63, wife of Edward Gooley, passed away in a Spokane hospital Tuesday, Dec 27, 1932, after a final illness lasting over a year.

Mrs. Gooley, with her husband and family, have been residents of the Harrington Wheat Belt for more than a quarter of a century, where they are widely known and highly respected.

Mrs. Gooley is survived by her husband, Edward; four sons, Fred of Mt Angel, OR; Alphonse, Mead, WA; Ed and Clarence, Harrington, WA; two daughters, Mrs. Mike Shields of Sprague, WA; Mrs. Robert Monahan, Spokane, WA; one brother, Fred Schwab, Mt Angel, OR; two sisters, Sister Gaudentia, Great Falls, MT; Sister, Rosula, Spokane.

The body arrived at Harrington Thursday morning over the Great Northern and was met by Mortician J E Turner of the Harrington Funeral Home. Services were conducted at St Francis Catholic Church by the Rev Father M. P. Shiel, and interment was in St Francis Cemetery, Harrington.

The pall bearers were: Louis Schultz, Chas B. Duncan, George A. Unbewust, Charles Fallert, Edward Huber, and Joe Shields.

Pauline Elizabeth Schwab was born Apr 12, 1869 at Dunlap, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Edward Gooley, May 5, 1887 at Arlington, OR, and in 1904 the family moved to WA and purchased a farm 5 ½ miles south of Harrington where they have since resided.

Mrs. Gooley was a faithful and loving wife and mother, a good neighbor and friend, a good Christian and will be missed among a wide circle of pioneers and neighbors of pioneer as well as later days. Another mother has passed to her reward in Heaven. It was E. H. Chapin who said: “No language can express the power and beauty and heroism and majesty of a mother’s love. It shrinks not where man cowers, and grows stronger where man faints, and over the wastes of worldly fortune sends the radiance of its quenchless fidelity like a star in heaven.”
