An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, November 22, 1990:

Carey Ford Lively, Sr. of Gatesville died Saturday, November 17. He was 89.
Funeral services were held Monday at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jay Riley officiating.
Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Lively was born June 22, 1901, in El Campo, the son of the late John J. and Angelina Rosa Lively. He was reared and attended school in Aztec, New Mexico, and graduated from Hall School, West of Richland Springs. He attended Howard Payne University and Business School in Corpus Christi.
He married the former Miss Evelyn C. Horne December 25,1934, near Richland Springs. After their marriage, they resided in Hall, Gatesville, Harlingen, and Irving, before moving back to Gatesville after his retirement in 1975.
Mr. Lively was a Construction Superintendent for 40 years, working at Fort Hood and throughout the state. He also taught a class in Cabinet Making at the Coryell County Vocational Veterans School. He was a very active member of the Senior Bowling Program in Waco, for 15 years, and was a member and multiple award winner of the Texas Senior Games.
He was a participant one year in the Senior National Bowling Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mr. Lively was a member of the Carpenter's Union and a member of First Baptist Church in Gatesville.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Lively of Gatesville; two sons, Carey F. Lively, Jr. of Maryland, and Bob Lively of Waco; one brother, Hiram Lively of Kress; one sister, Mary Humber of Menard; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Herman Brown, M.F. Rushing, Melvin Bagley, Melvin Darrow, Jack Straw, and Carroll Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Jackson Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
