Spencer was a passenger on flight C-54G (#45-528).

He resided in Nottoway County, Virginia prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on June 13, 1942 in Richmond, Virginia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Sales clerk and also as Single, with dependents.

Spencer died in the "Line Of Duty" when he was flying home from the war when the C-54G which he was on struck a mountain near Chhukka, Bhutan due to pilot error, killing all 44 on board.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on February 3, 1950 with 29 others also killed on this flight.

Spencer also has a memroial marker at Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone, Virginia.
