A Genealogy of the Descendants of Joseph Bixby: Died prior to 1898, "whose mother was a Burrell of Hemel Hempstead, England, otherwise called daughter of Philip and Hannah Mather (Raymond) Betts. Mrs. Fanny Bixby married, second, 1870, M. Harwood. She was a graduate of a seminary on Long Island. Was born February 18, 1800.

(She married Rufus Harwood, not M. Harwood according to Rufus's will and her death record.)

Buried in the Harwood plot in the White Cemetery, Allen, NY.

Death Record: 93 years, 3 mo.; teacher; born in Conn.; buried State Road Cemetery. Died April 9, 1893.

Written on the back of the holder of a tintype picture of Fannie: Mrs. Bixby Harwood, Grandmother of John Harwood. Her first husband prof. of language in Rochester, NY, buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery on Myrtle lot. She was a schoolteacher. Her two daughters married Harwood brothers. Fannie was an artist as well as a teacher.

There are two pictures in the family that she did. She cut out intricate shapes of tinfoil, painted them and mounted them on black velvet. One is a vase of flowers with two butterflies, and the other an open ring of flowers around two doves at a fountain. They are lovely and beautifully framed. I have also seen 2 more watercolor paintings, beautifully done, hanging in the home of a descendant of a neighbor of the Harwoods. I have photos of all of these paintings.Did not find Fannie in the 1892 Census for Allen, NY.
