Macungie Progress - 28 June 1888
---------------------------------------------------
Last week, while working in Gehman's ore mine, near Siesholtzville, Frank Bittenbender was killed by the falling of ground. He was first caught at the lower part of his body, and might have escaped but another fall occurred and he was suffocated before help could extricate him. He was 28 years old and left a wife and an 8-year-old boy. Of an upright character and good habits, his sudden death caused many to feel shocked. His funeral took place on Sunday last, at Huff's Church, and was largely attended. Jacob Bittenbender, of town, was a cousin of the deceased.
