Fred Pruetz (Prütz) was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin, Illinois. He is the youngest of six children of Wilhelm and Christine Pruetz who ended up in Pekin, Tazewell Co. IL after Wilhelm was captured at the battle of Arkansas Post in 1863. They had been living in Yoakum, DeWitt Co., Texas after immigrating in 1956.
